THOMAS O. LAXTON

April 23, 1936 ~ February 13, 2018 (age 81)

Thomas O. Laxton, age 81, passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2018, at the Jean Waddle Care Center at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Kentucky.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 17, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. at the East Pine Knot Tabernacle Church with Rev. William Kilby and Bro. Harold Baird officiating.  Burial will follow at the East Pine Knot Memorial Gardens.  Visitation will be Friday, from 6 – 9 p.m. at Pine Knot Funeral Home

Thomas had been a heavy equipment operator having worked for D.H. Campbell, Inc.  He operated a dozer for some 35 years.  He was a faithful member of the East Pine Knot Tabernacle Church of God.  He liked to hunt and enjoyed playing horseshoes.  He really enjoyed traveling all over the country.

He was born in Scott County, Tennessee, on April 23, 1936, to the late T. F. and Laura (Neal) Laxton.  Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Stella Stephens Laxton, two sons: Thomas Laxton, Jr. and Troy Laxton, two sisters: Christine Chitwood and Norma Jean Meadows and a grandchild, Dennis Wayne Richmond, Jr.

Surviving family include a son, Anthony Laxton (wife Theresa) of Pine Knot, five daughters: Bonnie Meranda of Bethel, Ohio, Roberta “Bertie”  Lovitt (husband Donnie) of Strunk, Kentucky, Pam Smith (husband Jr.) of Oneida, Tennessee, Peggy Kilby (husband William) of Pine Knot and Geraldine Laxton of Pine Knot. 

There are 13 grandchildren: Chad Richmond, Donnie Keith Lovitt, Felicia Smith, Erica Douglas, Angela Roberts, Thomas Jeremy Laxton, Cyndi Stephens, Brandon Laxton, Jessica Kennedy, Joshua Shane Laxton, William Dee Kilby, Alex Kilby, and Kristen Kilby.

There are 17 great grandchildren: Michael Todd, Destiny Laxton, Logan Lovitt, Mason Roberts, Austin Jeffers, Jeramiah Laxton, Wyatt Roberts, Elysia Slaven, Kiara Kennedy, Eli Tristen Smith, Zoey Kennedy, Jennifer Laxton, Braydon Stephens, Ravin Kennedy, Aiden Kennedy, Rylee Laxton and Papaw’s “baby doll”, Gracelyn Kilby.
