Alma Nadene Heth

March 4, 1922 — May 23, 2020

Alma “Nadene” Creekmore Heth completed her earthly journey at her home surrounded by her family on Saturday, May 23, 2020 being 98 years 2 months and 14 days old.


She was born on March 4, 1922 in Hayes Creek, KY to Francis A. Creekmore and Lula Gilreath Creekmore being the eldest of 5 children. She married Arthur McCoy Heth from Stearns, KY on September 14, 1946 and was his faithful companion until his death on April 25, 1988.


After working briefly at Wright Patterson AFB during WW II, Nadene returned home and obtained her initial teaching certificate from Berea College. She would later complete her studies and degree in Elementary Education at Cumberland College. She taught in various schools in the county for 32 years some being Kidd School (3-C area), Marsh Creek, Hayes Creek and Pine Knot Elementary before retiring in 1977.


Nadene had a love and talent for art and drawing at an early age using colored rocks from the creek that surrounded her home to draw her art. She continued lifelong efforts to develop her talent and would become locally known for her
many oil portraits and landscape paintings. At age 93, she completed a series of paintings of “The Life of Christ” and most recently with the help of BSF Art Club members Arnold Stephens and instructor Mary Ann Ross a painting of “Christ’s Ascension” dedicated to King’s Highway Church in London, KY on Feb. 19, 2020.


She also loved gardening, crocheting, knitting and singing. She accepted the Lord as her Savior at age 11 joining the Hayes Creek Church of God remaining a faithful member for 87 years. She sang with the church choir as well as with her Father Francis, Uncle and Aunt George and Clema Lay in a quartet. She would later sing with her sisters Norma and Ittylene as the Creekmore sisters blessing many people. Nadene is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters and brothers-in-law Pearl (Earl) Anderson, Norma (George) Lawson, Ittylene (Cecil) Trammell and sister-in-law Lois Trammell Creekmore.

She is survived by one brother, Bobby F. (Jackie) Creekmore of Belton, SC.,  nieces and nephews: Roger, Bruce, Tony (Donna), Jerry (Kim) Trammell, Charlotte Trammell (Ron) Griffin, Cynthia Lynette Trammell, Conny Anderson (Dynese Creekmore), Janice Anderson (John) Scates, Hanna Lawson Wright, Bryne (Tracey) and Brock (Mindy) Creekmore, Jim Davis of Lexington, KY, Beverly Heth Conner of Oak Ridge, TN,  and Mary Alice Foster of Iverness, FL., and special caregivers, Thelma Daugherty and Patty Perry. Nadene is also survived by special friends, Dorothy Washam, Betty Taylor and members of Big South Fork Art Club, and many other relatives and friends.


The family extends special thanks to other caregivers over the last 2 years: Jewell Baird, Nancy Clark, Tina Dople, Carolyn Watters, Stephanie Perry & Dynese Creekmore.

We feel our loss is her eternal Gain.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at 6:00 pm in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Bro. Harvey Logan, Bro. Arnold Stephens, Bro. Harry Watters, and Bro. Steve Perry officiating. Burial will follow in the T. Chitwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday after 4:00 pm until service time at the funeral home.
