Anna Mary Creekmore

Anna Mary Creekmore age 98 of Strunk, Kentucky passed from this life on Sunday, April 18, 2021 at the Somerset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

She was born to Thomas Arthur Creekmore and Dora Ellen (Neal) Creekmore on May 15, 1922, in Pine Knot, Kentucky.

She graduated from Pine Knot High School in 1938 and went on to complete 2 years at Cumberland College. She started her teaching vocation in one of the area's mining schools and later became a college professor of clothing and textiles. She lived and taught in Tennessee, Iowa, Florida, Oregon, and Michigan during her career; however, she always considered Kentucky her home and the best place on earth to live. She also traveled around the world twice and was a guest lecturer at the University in Cairo, Egypt.

In addition, Anna Mary authored books on clothing and textile history. When she retired, she returned to Strunk, Kentucky. She volunteered for many years at the McCreary County Museum and was active in various community organizations, as well as the Creekmore and Neal family reunions.

She is preceded in death by both her parents and her 3 siblings: Jasper Campbell Creekmore, Thomas Willard Creekmore, and Dora Edna (Creekmore) Carman.

Anna Mary is survived by her niece Kathy Henderson and her nephews Scott Carman, Paul Carman, and Roger Creekmore. She is also survived by many great and great-great nephews and nieces.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home. Burial to follow in the Pine Knot Cemetery.  The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday after 11:00 am until service time. 

In lieu of flowers, Anna Mary has requested that donations be made to the McCreary County Museum in Stearns, Kentucky 

Pine Knot Funeral Home is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
