Bobby Joe Cooper, age 56, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2026, at his home in Whitley City, Kentucky.

He was born on July 9, 1969, in McCreary County, Kentucky, to the late Marion Henderson “Buddy” Cooper and Dessie (Caddell) Cooper.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers: Ralph Cooper, Marion Cooper and Tony Cooper and a sister, Lillie Anderson.

Surviving family include a brother, Earl Lester Caddell of North Carolina, three sisters: Ora Mae Gray (Marcum) of Corbin, Kentucky, Mary Neal (Eddie) of Pine Knot, and Carol Jones (George) of Whitley City, and nieces and nephews: Chris Cooper, Chance Cooper, Steven Gray, Justin Gray, Brittany Powell, Alisha Cooper, Tim Hill, Rachel Brown, Tafton Jones, and Deserae Jones.

Bobby’s hobbies were collecting knives, picking up cans, word search puzzles and toy cars. Bobby loved everyone and was friendly to everyone. He will certainly be missed.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, March 13, 2026, at Pine Knot Funeral Home with Bro. Josh Stephens officiating. He will be laid to rest at the Cooper Cemetery in Pine Knot. The family will receive friends Friday beginning at 11:00 a.m. until funeral time at 1:00.

Pine Knot Funeral Home is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
