Charles Braddy Corbett

January 11, 1951 — September 29, 2022

Charles Braddy Corbett, age 71 of Strunk, Kentucky, passed away September 29, 2022, at the Baptist Health of Corbin Hospital.

He was born at home in Mount Olive, North Carolina, on January 11, 1951, to the late William Bradshaw and Mary Frances (Rackley) Corbett.

Brad was a master craftsman who was passionate about bringing his visions to life. He always said, “What makes you think if you don’t have time to do it right the first time, that you would have time to do it right the second time?” He lit up every time he spoke of his newest project – his log cabin and homestead in Kentucky. He loved his animals and was never happier than when he was on a horse riding up the Crest Trail near Mount Rogers with his dog Belle running beside. He loved trail riding all over the country with his wife Rita and his children, grandchildren, and friends, especially his dear friend Tom Vestal. He gave huge bear hugs, had an infectious smile and told the best stories. Brad impacted lives everywhere he went.

He is survived by his wife, Rita Lynn (Brindisi) Corbett, of Strunk, Kentucky, a son, Braddy Corbett Jr (Dana) of Bolivia, North Carolina; three daughters: Stephanie House (Chris) of Buford, Georgia, Sarah Corbett of Buford, Georgia, and Mary Ruth Love (Matt) of Pilot Mountain, North Carolina; five step-children: Tracy Lynn Clifford of Orlando, Florida, Jay Clifford (Lisa) of Land O Lakes, Florida, Kelly Sobocinski (Jason) of Hamden, Connecticut, Ashley Andriuolo of Greenville, North Carolina, and Alyssa Andriuolo of Bolivia, North Carolina. He had twelve grandchildren: Kelly Lynn Matthews (Chris), Christopher House Jr, Joshua House, Kaitlyn Carter, Kevin Carter (Brittany), Levi Corbett, Gatlin Corbett, Grady Corbett, Emma Rae Love, Amelia Love, Corbin Love, and Adelaine Love; and five step-grandchildren: Ariana Clifford, Alex Clifford, Tavin Sobocinski, Emmie Sobocinski, and Rylan Sobocinski. Great-grandchildren Leyla Cate Matthews and baby boy Matthews on the way.

Brad is survived by one brother, Sam Corbett (Roxy) of Grifton, North Carolina; two sisters: Joanna Corbett of Middleburg, Florida and Myrtle Schreffler (Andy) of Gainesville, Florida; and brother-in-law, Danny Peedin of The Villages, Florida. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Michele Corbett, and sister, Lynn Peedin.

A celebration of his life will be held at Old Town Baptist Church, 4386 Shattalon Drive, Winston-Salem, North Carolina, 27106, on Friday, October 14, 2022 at 2:00 pm. Immediate family and close friends will be holding a private memorial at Fox Creek Horse Camp, Troutdale, Virginia, on Saturday.
