OBITUARY FOR CHARLES E. SMITH

Mr. Charles E. Smith, age 80, passed away Thursday, March 23, 2006, at his home in Pine Knot, Kentucky.

Funeral services are Sunday March 26, 2006 at 1pm in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Johnson officiating. Burial in the Smith Cemetery at Round Top.

Mr. Smith was born in Revelo, Kentucky, on March 4, 1926, a son of the late Thomas and Grace Taylor Smith. Besides his parents, Charlie is preceded in death by a son Darrell Smith, two sisters Thelma Vanover, and Elma Stewart, two brother George and Glen Smith and a step-son Ronald Tony. Charlie leaves behind his wife of 38 years, Barbara M. Meek Smith of Pine Knot, two sons, Lawrence (and Crystal) Smith of Florida, Conley (and Kathy) Smith of Florida, and four daughters, Lisa (and Wayne) Glover of Florida, Rebecca (and Greg) Sears of Indianapolis, IN, Rhonda Matthews of Florida, and Barbara (and Benny) Mayotte of Indianapolis, IN, and step-children, Norma Jean Perry of Allen County, KY, and Geraldine Gardner of Indianapolis.

There are two surviving brothers Kenneth and Billy Smith, both of Indianapolis and two sisters Lou Beatty of New Castle, IN, and Katherine King of Indianapolis. He had 11 grandchildren and 10 great grand children.

Charlie had worked as a fabricator for H & H Cabinets in Indianapolis. After retiring he moved to McCreary County and took interest in taking care of the Smith Cemetery. He was an evangelist minister and attended the Beulah Heights Church of God.
