Conny Edward Anderson, age 74, of Pine Knot, Kentucky, passed peacefully from this life on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at his sister's home in Oneida, Tennessee.
Born on March 9, 1952, in Jellico, Tennessee, he was the beloved son of the late Earl and Pearl (Creekmore) Anderson. Conny was proud to be part of a family deeply rooted in the retail grocery business, a legacy established by his grandparents Jeff and Reba Anderson and Francis and Lula Creekmore, that he cherished and continued throughout his life.
A 1970 graduate of Pine Knot High School, Conny excelled as a two-sport athlete, impressing everyone with his talents in basketball and baseball. He later pursued further education at Eastern Kentucky University but felt the calling to serve his country, enlisting in the United States Navy. He underwent training at Great Lakes Naval Station before dedicating three honorable years aboard a Navy anti-submarine warfare vessel.
Upon returning home from military service, Conny took the reins of Anderson Grocery in 2003, the beloved family business initially founded by his grandmother Reba in 1942, then passed to his father, Earl. For decades, Conny passionately upheld the tradition of feeding the community, embodying the values imparted to him by his family before retiring in 2023.
Respected for his strong convictions, quiet generosity, and unwavering devotion to family, Conny had a zest for life that shone through in every endeavor. He found joy in his meticulously maintained yard, his love of boating, and had little patience for foolishness. A man of deep faith, he remained devoted to his beliefs as a member of the Church of God, particularly at the East Pine Knot Tabernacle Church of God. Conny will be fondly remembered by his family as a steadfast elder of his generation, a nurturer of community bonds, an adventurer at heart, and a man who thrived in God's creation.
He leaves behind his cherished sister, Janice Scates, and her husband, John, of Oneida, Tennessee, and his beloved life partner, Dynese Creekmore, of the Bethel Community, along with Dynese's children-Ashley Loudermilk and John Loudermilk-and her grandson, Crosby James "CJ" Martin. He is also survived by his dear uncle, Bob Creekmore and wife, Jackie, of South Carolina, his loyal Jack Russell, Magic, and numerous cousins who will miss him dearly.
Conny was preceded in death by his devoted parents, Earl and Pearl Anderson, as well as several aunts and uncles, Thelma and Fred Wright, Wilma and Cecil Name, Freda and Robert Bartley, Betty and Robert Lawson, Glen Anderson, Nadene and Arthur Heth, Norma and George Lawson, and Ittylene and Cecil Trammell who held a special place in his heart.
Funeral services for Conny will be held on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at 4 p.m. in the Chapel of the Pine Knot Funeral Home. Following the service, he will be laid to rest in the T. Chitwood Cemetery beside his parents. The family invites friends to gather and pay their respects starting at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. The family expresses their gratitude for the love and support they have received during this difficult time.
Pine Knot Funeral Home is assisting in commemorating Conny's life, a life well-lived, and a legacy that will endure in the hearts of those who knew him.
