Darrell Ray Stephens

Darrell Ray Stephens, age 72, of Pine Knot, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at Signature HealthCare of McCreary.

Darrell was born on July 7, 1953 in Pine Knot, Kentucky to the late Grover and Effie Perkins Stephens. He was a member of Pleasant Run Church. He did a lot of farming in his life and had his own beef cattle operation for many years. He also owned K & S Auto Parts for 19 years and owned a small grocery store. In his younger years, he was a great athlete, who excelled in basketball and was awarded a basketball scholarship to Sue Bennett College. Darrell was also elected to the Kentucky 12th Region Basketball Hall of Fame. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and his furry dog buddies.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Donna Stephens, and brothers-in-law, Abe Simpson, James Keith, and Lester Davenport.

Darrell is survived by his sons Eric Stephens (wife, Carla) and Chris Stephens; the mother of his children, Debbie Kidd-Trammell; a step-daughter, Jamie Eubank (husband, Steve); brother, Lonnie Stephens (wife, Barbara); sisters, Sue Carol Taylor (husband, JB), Opal Simpson, Morlene Keith, Gertrude Conaster (husband, Larry); and grandchildren, Adeline Stephens, Thomas Eubank, Joe Eubank, Jeremiah Eubank, and one on the way.

The funeral will be held on Monday, May 18, 2026, at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Bro. Boyd Rowe officiating. Burial to follow in the Pleasant Run Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday after 11:00 AM until funeral service time.
