Darrell Ray Stephens

Darrell Ray Stephens, age 72, of Pine Knot, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at Signature Health McCreary.

Darrell was born on July 7, 1953 in Pine Knot, Kentucky to the late Grover and Effie Perkins Stephens. He was a member of Pleasant Run Church, he owned and ran K & S Auto Parts for 19 years, operated and owned a grocery store, and really enjoyed farming his entire life. In his younger years, he was a great athlete, who excelled in basketball and was awarded a scholarship to Sue Bennett College. He was also elected to the 12th Region Basketball Hall of Fame for the state of Kentucky. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and his furry dog buddies.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Stephens.

Darrell is survived by his sons: Eric and wife, Carla Stephens, who currently resides in Clarksville, TN., and Chris Stephens of Somerset, Ky., the mother of his children, Debbie Kidd-Trammell; a step-daughter, Jamie and husband, Steve Eubank, Eubank, Ky., sisters, Sue Carol and husband JB Taylor of Ohio, Opal Simpson of northern Ky., Morlene Keith of Pine Knot, Ky., Gertrude and husband Larry Conatser also of Ohio; and grandchildren, Adeline Stephens, Thomas Eubank, Joe Eubank, Jeremiah Eubank, and one on the way.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 18, 2026, at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home, with visitation beginning at 11:00 am until time for services. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Run Cemetery.
