DELCA MARTIN SHELTON

June 10, 1927 — January 1, 2015

Ms. Delca (Ball) Martin Shelton, age 87, passed from this life on Thursday, January 1, 2015, at Baptist Health Lexington.

She was born June 10, 1927, at Duck Run, Kentucky, to the late Jess Francis and Flora (Hamlin) Ball.  Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by the father of her children; Leslie Martin and her second husband Paul C. Shelton, an infant son; Gary Martin, three sisters; Imogene Hill, Emma Faye Horton, Ella Mae Hatfield and three brothers; Delmar Ball, Donald Ball and infant Kenneth Ball.

Surviving family include her children; Kenneth Martin (wife Judy), Huntsville, Tennessee, Maedean Sumner (husband Gerald), Marshes Siding, Kentucky, Eugene Martin, Bronston, Kentucky, grandchildren; Shane Martin (wife Jeanie), Renee Haynes (husband Eric), Jody Martin, Leslie Martin, Amy Strunk (husband Michael), Amanda Dandridge, Andy Martin (wife Candida), Ashley Simpson (husband Brandon), and Tyler Martin. Great grandchildren are; Shana Crabtree (husband Tyler), Seth Haynes, Brandon Martin (wife Lacey), Austin Martin, Adrionna Haynes, Robert Veazie, Joseph Veazie, Jimmy John Dandridge, Ally Strunk, MaKalynn Martin, Addy Strunk, Branson Simpson, Emily Martin, Aubrey Martin, and Riley Martin.  She has one great-great grandchild; Tinleigh Martin

Surviving sisters are Della V. Terry, Corbin, Kentucky, Shirley Ball Hudson, Corbin, Nora Lou Bays (husband Jerry), Williamsburg, and Lavonda Johnson, West Bend, Wisconsin, brothers; Roy Ball (wife Effie Mae), Whitley City, Larry Ball (wife Connie), Bowling Green, Kentucky, and sister-in-law Carolyn Ball.

Delca was a homemaker and member of the Whitley City Second Baptist Church.  She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, quilting, shopping flea markets and peddler’s malls, but most of all she delighted in hearing from and spending time with family.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 5, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Casada officiating.  She will be laid to rest at the New Liberty Cemetery.  Visitation will be Sunday after 5:00 at the funeral home.
