DELLA GIBSON

Della Gibson, age 86, of Muncie, Indiana, passed away Saturday, April 13, 2013, at the Indiana University Health Ball Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 17, 2013, in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Rev. James Dee Cox and Bro. Danny Clark officiating. She will be laid to rest at the Pine Knot Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 a€" 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Eastern Star services will be held Tuesday evening at 7:30.

Born January 5, 1927, in Shoopman, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Lee J. and Rebecca (King) Watson. Besides her parents, her husband Vernon O. Gibson precedes her in death as well as a son Vernon C. Gibson, two daughters Stella Murphy and Veeanna Robbins, four brothers; Robert, Willis, Elman and Clarence Watson and infant sister.

Surviving family include a daughter; Joan Piercy (and Arthur) of Muncie, Indiana; and two sons Stephenson Gibson of Muncie, Indiana and Mart Lee Gibson (and Joyce) of Whitley City, and a brother Delmus Watson. There are 11 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.

Ms. Gibson had retired from Midwest Towel Company in Muncie, Indiana where she had been a shipping clerk and union representative for 20 years. In her younger days, she had worked at Goburo Laundry in New Jersey. She was also proud to be a mother and homemaker. She was of the United Baptist faith, a member of the Eastern Star and Order of the White Shrine.
