Mr. Dennie Lee "Fossil" Vance, age 76, of Pine Knot, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2012, at the St. Mary's Scott County Hospital in Oneida, Tennessee.
In accordance with Mr. Vance's wishes, his remains will be cremated.
Mr. Vance was born October 2, 1935, in West Virginia. His parents were Wesley and Hattie Mae Frye Vance. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter Kim Vance.
Surviving family include two sons Randy (and Bridgett) Vance of Strunk, Billy Vance, Cincinnati, two daughters; Donna Vance and Sharon Pinon, both of Cincinnati. Brothers are Johnny Vance of North Vernon, Indiana, Bud, Leroy and Wesley Vance of Cincinnati, sisters Mary Hodges and Frances Vance also of Cincinnati. He had 18 grandchildren including Kendall May Vance, Krystal and Savannah Roberts and several great grandchildren.
Mr. Vance was a river boat captain having retired from McGinnis, Inc. a marine transportation company in Ohio. He moved to McCreary County approximately six years ago and enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Pine Knot Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
