Mr. Dennie Lee "Fossil" Vance, age 76, of Pine Knot, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2012, at the St. Mary's Scott County Hospital in Oneida, Tennessee.

In accordance with Mr. Vance's wishes, his remains will be cremated.

Mr. Vance was born October 2, 1935, in West Virginia. His parents were Wesley and Hattie Mae Frye Vance. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter Kim Vance.

Surviving family include two sons Randy (and Bridgett) Vance of Strunk, Billy Vance, Cincinnati, two daughters; Donna Vance and Sharon Pinon, both of Cincinnati. Brothers are Johnny Vance of North Vernon, Indiana, Bud, Leroy and Wesley Vance of Cincinnati, sisters Mary Hodges and Frances Vance also of Cincinnati. He had 18 grandchildren including Kendall May Vance, Krystal and Savannah Roberts and several great grandchildren.

Mr. Vance was a river boat captain having retired from McGinnis, Inc. a marine transportation company in Ohio. He moved to McCreary County approximately six years ago and enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Pine Knot Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

I miss u grandpa u will always b in my heart u n my mom i never got to say my good byes i no ur in heavin and not suffering any more but i will always miss u i think about u and my mom every day its hard not to think bout u guys without crying i no i will get to see u guys again someday . Dennie was a great man who would have given anyone the shirt off his back. We thought very highly of him and he's deeply missed! R.I.P Fossil! The family is in our prayers! We pray God provides all of you comfort during this difficult time.

well i made my way to tell you good by papaw on 2/14/2012 i hard you were doing well and i was for shore i was gonna see you once again ill miss you papaw you meant a lot to me i am shore ill meant up with you again one day until then ill be caring your love wit me and the good memoirs i am still having a hard time accepting that you are with aunt Kim papaw i am shore she has been waiting along time for her daddy to come home its good to know you not suffering any more and i know your at rest i want you too know i love you and will meet up with you up there i love you papaw R.I.P thats was hard for to say i still wish you were here by now 2/27/2012

well 2/14/2012 i went to see my papaw i missed him so much i remember i use to call him all the time while he was working out on the boat i use to always say i love you grandpa i had a lot of good memories with him ill never for get the good times i dont think he ever made us cry boy what id do for one last good by i love you grandpa i happy your at rest now and your not suffering any more you will always be on my mind love amy sue 2/26/2012 i love
