Luke Edward Meadows, age 89, departed this life on Wednesday, March 12, 2014.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Bro. David West and Bro. Daniel Ridener officiating. Burial will be at the Meadows Cemetery in Strunk. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
He was born March 20, 1924, in Strunk, Kentucky, to parents Thomas and Mary (Ray) Meadows. After serving his country during World War II as a member of the United States Coast Guard, he returned home to Pine Knot, where he later met and married Jewel Dean Neal on November 14, 1950. They were married for 53 years and were blessed with five children; Rosalie (and Wayne) Ball, Calvin (and Charlene) Meadows, Edward Allen (and Linda) Meadows, Anthony Wayne (and Eva) Meadows and William Michael Meadows.
His wife precedes him in death along with his parents, siblings; Mae Meadows, Ralph Meadows, Estil Meadows, Leonard meadows, Opal Meadows and Audrey Morrow, daughter-in-law Belinda Meadows, grandson Brooks Anthony Meadows and great-grandson Anderson Lee Ball.
He is survived by his children, 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, sisters Sophia Musgrove of Pine Knot and Imogene Long of Columbus, Ohio, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Ed made his living as a farmer and enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends. He was deeply loved and will be sorely missed.
