EDWARD RAY STEPHENS

Mr. Edward Ray Stephens, age 58, passed away Saturday, July 12, 2008. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 15, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Rev. Harvey Logan and Rev. Tim Stephens officiating. Burial will be in the Upper Cal Hill Cemetery. The family will received friends Monday evening from 6 a€" 9 p.m. at Pine Knot Funeral Home. Born in McCreary County, Kentucky, on May 3, 1950, he was the son of Thomas Melvin and Dorothy Opal Perry Stephens. He had been a carpenter before becoming disabled and was a member of the Hayes Creek Church of God. He was a family man who loved his family and displaying their pictures. He enjoyed camping, fishing, wood work, gospel music and working in his yard and with his flowers. Preceding him in death is his father Thomas Stephens, a brother Kenneth Stephens, two sisters Phyllis Ann and Deborah Ruth Stephens, and a grandchild Kelly Braden. Surviving family include his mother Dorothy Stephens of Strunk, four daughters April (and Mark) King, Nicole (and Greg) Payne, Tonya (and Randall) Braden and Jessica (and Parker) Jones, all of Pine Knot. There are two sisters, Wanda Neal of Pine Knot and Judy Baird of Jamestown, Kentucky, and six brothers, Roscoe, Orvil Lee, and Burtis Stephens all of Strunk, Tommy Stephens of Black Oak, Kentucky, Timmy Stephens of Pine Knot, and Phillip Stephens of Strunk. There are many other family and friends, nieces and nephews including Shawn Stephens who was like a son to him, Reva and Tommy Coffey and Irene Stephens. Edward was blessed with six grandchildren: Samantha King, Mark King, Jr., Edward Randall Braden, Falesha Perry, Kaitlin Braden and Sierra Braden.
