ELISHA ELBERT DAUGHERTY

Elisha Elbert Daugherty, age 98, passed away Monday, April 3, 2023, at his home in Pine Knot, Kentucky.

Born in Strunk, Kentucky, on June 2, 1924, he was the son of the late Henry and Anna Elizabeth (Tapley) Daugherty. 

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Mattie Hamby Daugherty, two sons: Billy Ray and Denny Elisha Daugherty, five sisters: Rachel Daugherty, Lela King, Ollie Hutchinson, Mable Hogue, and an infant sister: and four deceased brothers: Estes, Thornton, Manuel and Thomas Daugherty.

Surviving family include four daughters: Thelma Joyce Gregory (Reed) of Monticello, Kentucky, Donna Strunk (Darrell deceased) of Pine Knot, Janie Foster (John deceased) of Pine Knot, and Marilyn Cookie King (Scottie Morris deceased) of Pine Knot.  There are 15 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Elisha had worked as a mechanical contractor and member of the Gatliff Baptist Church in Gatliff, Kentucky.  He served his country in the Army during WWII as a medic and was a longtime member of the American Legion Post 115 in Stearns.  Elisha loved to dance and loved his family.  He was proud of his children, as well as his grandchildren and was very family oriented.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 8, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Bro. Craig Reed and Bro. Landon Sexton officiating.  Burial will follow at the Pine Knot Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday after 12:00 noon until service time.
