Ellen Rayetta Switzer

Ellen Rayetta Switzer age 71 of Pine Knot, Kentucky passed from this life on Friday, July 24, 2026 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville, Kentucky. 

She was born on December 8, 1954 in Cumberland, Kentucky to the late Ray Salyer and Margaret (Shelby) Salyer. In addition to her parents, Ellen is preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children, George Bush; sons, George Michael Bush and Matthew Tyler Bush; and a brother, Bob Salyer.

Surviving family include her husband of 14 years, Luther Switzer; sons, Ursle Bush (and Colleen) and Robbie Bush (and Hope); a daughter, Renee Halcomb (and Mike); grandchildren, Gabby, Chris, Ashley, Michael, Noah, Payton, Robert Jr. "Tank", Grace, and Jeremiah; and a great-grandchild, Elliott. 

Also surviving are Ellen's brother, Paul Salyer; sisters, Peggy Salyer, Christina "Creech" Salyer, and Dorothy Cornett; as well as many special extended family and friends that she loved dearly. 

Ellen was a member of the Macedonia Christian Church in Oneida, Tennessee where she also served as Treasurer for many years. She loved the Lord and was a very devoted Christian. She spent the majority of her life as a caregiver, not only to her family, but others as she provided health care as a nurse. In her own time, she enjoyed going thrifting, collecting and selling jewelry. Ellen will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. 

Funeral service will be held on Monday, July 27, 2026 at 1:00 pm at the Macedonia Christian Church with Pastor Randall Duncan officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation after 11:00 am until service time. (Macedonia Church is located at  21470 Alberta St. Oneida, TN 37841)

A second Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at the TriCity Funeral Home in Benham, Kentucky at 1:00 pm. The family will receive friends for visitation after 11:00 am until service time. (TriCity Funeral Home is located at 506 Holly St. Benham, KY 40823)

Ellen will be laid to rest in the Monte Vista Cemetery in Cumberland, Kentucky.
