ELSIE WALLACE

February 25, 1917 — March 21, 2013

Elsie Winchester Wallace, age 96, of Stearns, Kentucky passed away on Thursday March 21, 2013 at Williamsburg Health and Rehabilitation Center in Williamsburg, Kentucky.

Funeral services will be Saturday March 30, 2013 at 12 noon in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Pine Knot Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 11am Saturday until time for services at the funeral home.

Elsie was born February 25, 1917 to the late Edd and Bertha Stephens Winchester. She was the devoted wife of Charles V. Wallace who died in 1996. She was also preceded in death by a daughter Sara Lizabeth Wallace who passed away on 2012.

Elsie is survived by her children, Charles D. Wallace (Rosemary), Mary Sue Rogers (John), William R. Wallace (Nancy) all of Cincinnati, Ohio and Carol Wallace Bailey (Tom) of Burnsville, North Carolina.

She was the cherished grandmother of Laura (Schultz) and Vincent E. Wallace, Daniel, David and Joel Locey, Thomas, Andrew, Patrick and Katherine Bailey, Angela (Strunk), Jessica (Zwolinski), William Wallace, Jr. and Ashley (McIntosh) and proud great-grandmother of 28 and great great grandmother of 4.

She was the dear sister of the late Blanche Swain, Augustus Winchester, Edwina Morgan, Edward Winchester, Jr. Raymond Winchester, James Winchester and Virginia Duncan. She is survived by a brother, Norman F. Winchester (Lula) of Somerset, Kentucky and a sister Ruth Beaty (John) of Indianola, Iowa.

Elsie was raised in the Baptist Faith. She had deep roots in McCreary County and was blessed with many friends who delighted in her knowledge of McCreary County history and her family's genealogy, as well as the lineage of many local families. She contributed several articles and many rare photographs to the McCreary County Record and to the Stearns Museum detailing interesting events from Stearns history. She was also an accomplished seamstress and quilt maker with a great sense of color and design. All of her children and many of her grandchildren cherish the quilts she made especially for them.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Williamsburg Health and Rehabilitation Center for the wonderful care and consideration which they provided for "Miss Elsie" during her stay at their facility.
