Gerstal Ray Phipps

Gerstal Ray Phipps, age 81 of Pine Knot, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2015, at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset.

Mr. Phipps was retired from Pepsi Cola Bottling Company and was a veteran of the United States Army.  He enjoyed fishing, watching movies and walking.  He especially enjoyed family time.

He was born in Wayne County, Kentucky on July 20, 1933.  His parents were the late Millard T. and Mary (Gregory) Phipps.  Besides his parents he is preceded in death by a son Keith Phipps, three brothers: Lamullan Phipps, Clyde Phipps and Paul Phipps and two sisters:  Thelma Cole and Irene Phipps.

Surviving family include his wife Mary E. (Rodgers) Phipps whom he married May 13, 1959, their children:  Nancy Jones (and Johnny) of Muncie, Indiana, Clarence Phipps (and Mary) of Pine Knot, Charles Phipps (and Teresa) of Muncie, and Steven Phipps, also of Muncie.  He has one brother surviving, Gilbert Phipps of Indianapolis, Indiana and one sister, Faye Hughes of Muncie, Indiana.  He was blessed with 11 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

Funeral services:  Saturday, July 18, 2015, at 12:00 p.m. with Dan Ridener officiating

Military Honors provided by American Legion Post 115 of Stearns

Burial:  Campbell Vanover Ridge Community Cemetery

Visitation:  Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until time for services.
