Herstle (Bill) Leonard Swain

Herstle (Bill) Leonard Swain, age 87 of Stearns, passed away on Sunday August 30, 2015 at Williamsburg Health and Rehabilitation Center in Williamsburg, Kentucky.

Funeral services will be Friday at 1pm in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Waters Cemetery at Bald Knob. The family will receive friends on Friday from 11:00am until funeral time at the funeral home.

He was born in Stearns, Kentucky on September 12, 1927 to the late William L. Swain and Ella Mae (Perkins) Swain. In addition to her parents he is preceded in death by his wife Veralene Swain whom he married October 4, 1952, two brothers; Kyle and Earl Swain, four sisters; Jessie Morgan, Thelma Bartley, Joyce Leveridge, and Jewell Dodson. A granddaughter; Susan Michelle Maxwell and a son-in-law James Maxwell also precedes him in death.

Survivors include his son, Ricky Swain and his wife Monica of Mt. Holly, New Jersey, and a daughter, Vivian Maxwell of Stearns, Kentucky; a brother Sherrill Swain of Louisville, Kentucky. He has four grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren also surviving.

Bill enjoyed working with lawnmowers along with family time.
