James "Gene" King

October 3, 1943 — June 28, 2015

James E. “Gene” King, age 71 of Strunk, Kentucky, passed away Sunday June 28, 2015 at McCreary Health & Rehab in Pine Knot, Kentucky.

Funeral services will be Thursday, July 2, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. With Bro. Landon Sexton officiating at Pine Knot Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Musgrove Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday July 1, 2015  from 6:00 pm until 9:00pm at the funeral home.

Gene was born October 3, 1943, to the late Chester and Gladys (Davis) King. Gene is preceded in death by his loving wife, Phyllis Jean  and his parents Chester and Gladys and two brothers; Don and Arnold King and three sisters, Sandra Sue Chitwood, Shirley Chambers and Patsy Worley.

 

Surviving family include his son Randy King and wife Kerry of Pine Knot; three daughters, Sherry Stephens and husband Rick of Stearns, Priscilla Eldridge and husband Mike of Crab Orchard, Kentucky, Susan Baker of Pine Knot; four brothers, Ronnie King, Charles (and Imogene) King, Lynn (and Darla) King, and Denvil King, and four sisters; Kathy (and Richard) Crabtree, Patricia (and Wilburn) Heath, Gail (and Roger) King, and Gwenna (and Anthony) Byrd; ten grandchildren, Dustin King, Joshua Stephens, P.J. Paul, Tyler Jones, Devon Stephens, Madison Stephens, Bryson Morrow, Colton Baker, and Bailey Baker; five great grandchildren Destiny King, Kainan Stephens, Gracelyn Stephens, Elijah Paul, and Carsyn Baker. Plus a host of other family and friends that loved and adored Gene.

Gene had worked as a truck driver and was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.  He enjoyed his old cars and his western wear.   He was a special friend to many and always put their needs before his own.
