JAMES D. NEAL

Mr. James D. Neal, age 70, passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2016, at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Kentucky.

He was born on June 10, 1946, at Newcomb, Tennessee, to the late George and Clora (Creekmore) Neal.  Besides his parent, he is preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Neal, three half brothers: Theodore Lay, Leamon Neal and Oscar Neal, and two half sisters: Nola Mae Wortham and Sadie Ryan.

Surviving family includes his wife, Nina (Litton) Neal of Pine Knot, two sons: James Daniel Neal, Jr. (J.R.) (and Debbie) of Pine Knot, and Greg Allen Neal (and Tonya) of Pine Knot, nine grandchildren: Jason Stephens, Marka Perry, John Neal, Josh Neal, Rusty Neal, Chasity Matthews, Halie Neal, Hannah Neal and K.J. Neal, 16 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.  There are two surviving brothers: George Neal and Luther Neal (wife Lola), a sister, Mary Meadows and two half-sisters: Essie King and Gladys Bolton.

James had worked as a carpenter and enjoyed making gunstocks.  He enjoyed working as well as hunting and fishing and having fish frys.  He took great pleasure in the time he was able to spend with his grandchildren, their children and the babies.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 30, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Rev. William Kilby officiating.  He will be laid to rest at the Hayes Creek Cemetery.  Visitation will be Sunday from 12:00 noon until time for services.
