JAMES SWEET

James “Jim” Sweet, age 78, of Oneida, Tennessee, passed away Sunday, January 24, 2016, at the Pioneer Community Hospital in Oneida, Tennessee.

Jim was born at Shoopman, Kentucky, on July 17, 1937.  He was the son of the late Ransom and Temple (Boyatt) Sweet.  He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother Henry Clay Sweet, a sister Helen Faye Sweet and a nephew Hurstle Sweet.

Surviving family include a sister Beatrice Jarrell of Oneida, a sister-in-law Vela Sweet, of Oneida, a niece Michelle Sweet of Oneida and a nephew Patrick Jarrell of Knoxville, Tennessee, as well as many cousins, other relatives and friends. 

Jim was a member of the Black Oak Baptist Church.  He enjoyed Bluegrass music and used to go to “The Barn” to listen to music and volunteer his services.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 30, 2016, in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Bro. Bradley Kidd officiating.  Burial was at the Black Oak Cemetery in Scott County.  Visitation was Saturday from 12:00 -2:00p.m.

Pine Knot Funeral Home assisted the family with funeral arrangements.
