JERRY C GARLAND

Jerry C. Garland, also known as "Hump" Hammer, age 81, of Pine Knot, Kentucky, passed away Monday, September 14, 2026, at the Baptist Health Center in Corbin, KY.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 18, at 1:00 p.m., in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Bro. Boyd Rowe officiating. He will be laid to rest at the Garland Cemetery in Pine Knot. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Jerry was born October 11, 1944, in Oneida, Tennessee, the son of the late Edgar and Lizzie (Miller) Garland.  Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by sisters: Louise Perry and Loretta Shuck, two brothers: James Roosevelt Garland and Johnny William Garland, and a step-son, Christopher McGilton.

Surviving family include his longtime partner, Georgia "Georgie" Watson, a son Shannon Dewayne Garland, a daughter Connie Whitaker (John), step children: Cindy Ross (Larry) and Richard McGilton (Jenny), a sister, Aileen Leonard and a brother, Edward  "Red" Garland (Judy) and a former daughter-in-law Rebecca "Becky" Howard.

Jerry was blessed with 24 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 8 great great  grandchildren.

He had been a truck driver and enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and cars.  He was a jack of all trades.
