JOE LEE STEPHENS

May 2, 1936 — July 20, 2016

Joe Lee Stephens, age 80, of Foster Crossroads, Tennessee, passed peacefully into eternal life on Wednesday, July 20, 2016, at his home with family and friends by his side.

He was born May 2, 1936, at Roundtop, Kentucky, the son of the late Luther W. and Savannah K. (Taylor) Stephens.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two children: Brenda Lee and Timothy Elmon Stevens and the mother of his children: Lela M. (Ross) Stevens,

five brothers: Prince L. Stephens, Paul R. Stephens, Amon L. Stephens, Howard Stephens and Cleve Roman Stephens,

six sisters: Letha Stephens, Eva (Stephens) Klundt, Trannie (Stephens) Bell, Nannie (Stephens) Griffith, Edith (Stephens) Hammond, and Etta Faye (Stephens) Foster.

Surviving family includes his loving wife of 38 years, Glennice (Boyatt) Stephens of Foster Crossroads, Tennessee, four children: Leota (Stevens) Wilson (friend, Oakley Merritt) of Burnside, Kentucky, Cathy Stevens, Strunk, Kentucky, Joe Lee (Paula) Stevens, of Robbins, Tennessee, Larry (Danny) (and Alice) Stevens of Harrogate, Tennessee, a sister: Charlene (Stephens) Strunk of Somerset, Kentucky,  special sister-in-law: Shirley Reagan and Faye (George) Hicks of Foster Crossroads.  He had 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

Joe was a member of the Foster Crossroads Baptist Church.  He was retired from Hartco Flooring Company in Oneida, Tennessee.  He loved playing his guitar and singing, and listening to bluegrass and gospel music.  He enjoyed raising his beagle and foxhounds and going hunting with family and friends.

 

Funeral services:  12:00 p.m., Sunday, July 24, 2016, Pine Knot Funeral Home

Visitation:            Saturday, July 23, 2016, from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.

Burial:                  Smith Cemetery, Roundtop Road, Strunk, Kentucky
