John Wayne Cloyd, Sr.

John Wayne Cloyd, Sr. age 79 of Pine Knot, Kentucky passed from this life on Thursday, November 5, 2026 at the Signature Health Care of McCreary. 

He was born on May 12, 1947 in Frankfort, Kentucky to the late John Junior Cloyd and Elsie (Barber) Cloyd. In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by a daughter, Tammy Batt; brothers, Lonnie and Scottie Cloyd; and a sister, Alma Wheeler. 

Surviving family include his son, John Wayne Cloyd, Jr. (and Phyllis Stephens); daughters, Amanda Posey (and Chad), Dawn Marie Cloyd, and Missy Chadwick; a brother, Shane Cloyd; sisters, Brenda Ralstin (and Richard), and Jenny Cloyd; 9 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. 

John was a Farmer and was of the Baptist faith. In his younger days, he enjoyed basketball, baseball, and softball. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. 

In keeping with his wishes, John was cremated. 

Pine Knot Funeral Home assisted the family with funeral arrangements.
