KENNETH A. MASSENGALE

November 11, 1956 — November 28, 2019

It is with great sadness that the family of Kenneth Allen Massengale announces his passing after a brief illness of pancreatic cancer on November 28, 2019, at the age of 63.

Ken was born on November 11, 1956, in Oneida, Tennessee to Joyce (Meadows) and Ray Homer Massengtale.  Upon his father’s death, he was raised by his uncle Arlie and aunt Cordelia Massengale.

Ken will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 40 years and his step-children: Jennifer (and Sam) McDermott of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Joshua (and Catrina) McDermott of Corbin, Kentucky, and two grandchildren, Issac and Eli and by his siblings:  Brenda Murphy of Stearns, Kentucky, Betty (and Denny) Pierce of Indianapolis, Indiana, Tyson (and Ella) Massengale of Pine Knot, Judy (and Bobby) Coffey of Pine Knot, Delotta (and Danny) Simpson of Falmouth, Kentucky, and Dave (and Katrina) Massengale of Chatsworth, Georgia.

Ken was predeceased by his maternal parents, Ray and Joyce (Meadows) Massengale, his uncle Arlie Massengale and two brothers: Arnold Massengale and Bobby Massengale.

Ken loved spending time with family and friends.  He loved the outdoors, going jeeping and four-wheeling.  He worked for D. H. Campbell, Inc., for over 20 years and eventually became a heavy equipment operator for local road construction jobs.  He was currently working for Hinkle Contracting.

A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, December 1, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Josh McDermolt officiating.  He will be laid to rest at the Wright Cemetery on Day Ridge Road.  The family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until time for funeral services.
