Leland Slaven age 88 of Whitley City passed from this life on Thursday, July 24, 2025 at the Harborview Nursing Home in Thomaston, Georgia.
Leland was born on June 5, 1937, to Parker and Florence Slaven. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy.
On July 18, 1964, Leland married the love of his life, Mildred Wagers. Together, they built a life rooted in love and family, raising two sons, Kenneth and Eric.
Leland retired in 1992 after 30 years of dedicated service with General Motors. He was known for his strong work ethic, quiet strength, and unwavering commitment to those he loved.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mildred; his parents, Parker and Florence; his brothers, Nathan Slaven and Mack R. Slaven; and his sisters, Vina Ramsey, Gloria Hughes, and Wanda Lawrence.
Leland is survived by his sons, Kenneth (Patti) Slaven and Eric (Melissa) Slaven; grandsons, Kenneth Slaven Jr. (Samantha), Michael Slaven, Hunter Slaven, Justin Boyd (Rachel), and Aaron Boyd (Jordon); and great-grandchildren, Wesley, Madelyn, Natalie, and Brantley.
He is also survived by his brother, Parker Slaven Jr. of Cincinnati, OH; and his sisters, Thressa Dolen and Patricia King, both of Stearns, KY; Cedith Ford of Corbin, KY; and Katheryn Crabtree of Cincinnati, OH; and many nieces and nephews.
Leland’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of his family and all who knew and loved him.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at 12:00 noon in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Bro. Robert Hatfield officiating. Burial to follow in the Silerville Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday after 11:00 am until service time.
