LEON BALL

Leon Ball, age 68, passed away Thursday, May 15, 2014, at his home in Stearns, Kentucky.

Funeral services will be held Monday, May 19, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Rev. Rufus Hughes officiating.  Special music will be performed by Judy Redden and the Neal Family.  Burial will be at the East Pine Knot Memorial Gardens.  Visitation will be Sunday from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Leon was born September 16, 1945, in McCreary County, Kentucky, to the late George Kelly and Sadie (Stephens) Ball.  Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by four brothers; Dean, Clemon, Orville and Bennie Ball and a sister Wanda Ball.

Surviving family include his wife Reba (Stephens) Ball, of Stearns, a son Terry Glen Ball (and Janet) of Cincinnati, Ohio, and two daughters; Jesscelyn Ryan (and Joey) of Tennessee, and Gidget Wilson (and Kenneth) of Williamsburg, Kentucky.  He has nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Brothers and sisters include Hobert Ball of Pine Knot, Donald Ball of Pine Knot, Leland Ray Ball of Fairfield, Ohio, Mary Helen Ponder of Williamsburg, Michael Ball of Pine Knot, and Clem Ball of Pine Knot.

Leon had retired from Whiteway Spaulding in Cincinnati, Ohio as a shear operator.  Before that he worked in Hamilton, Ohio, for Ward Manufacturing.  Whatever he was doing, he was a perfectionist and loved his work.  He enjoyed cutting grass and working around the house.  He attended Beech Grove Church
