LJ Neal

LJ Neal, age 87, of Whitley City, Kentucky, passed away at the University of Kentucky Good Samaritan Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky on December 24, 2023.

LJ was born in Creekmore, Kentucky on April 27, 1936 to the late Hurstle Neal and the late Lura (Baird) Neal. He retired from Crane Plumbing in Somerset. He loved to coon hunt, go to church, and play cornhole, but he especially loved his family and having dinners with them.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Evelyn (Cooper) Neal, and two sisters, Loretta Neal, and Margel Wilson.

LJ is survived by his children, Randall Neal (Lisa), of Mayfield, Kentucky, Anna Faye Murphy, of Whitley City; sister, Anna Rose Murphy (Bill), of Winfield, Tennessee; one grandson, Brandon Neal (Stephanie), of Omaha, Nebraska; and two great grandchildren, Avery, and Mallory.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 29, 2023 at 2:00pm EST at Pine Knot Funeral Home. The family will receive friends for visitation after 12:00pm Friday at the funeral home. Burial will take place in the Pine Knot Cemetery after the funeral service.
