Melissa Carol Erwin

Melissa Carol (Gabbard) Erwin, age 45, passed from this life on Sunday, December 3, 2017, at her home in Pine Knot, Kentucky.

Born in Somerset, Kentucky, on May 12, 1972, she was the daughter of Linda Summers Johnson.  She is preceded in death by her dad Glen Johnson.  Surviving family include her son, Darcy Phillips (fiance Tewanna Myers) of Helenwood, Tennessee, her daughter, Taylor Murphy of Russell Springs, Kentucky, grandchildren: Leia Phillips and Urban Foster and her mother Linda Johnson of Pine Knot, a brother: Richard Summers (wife Tiffany) of Strunk, Kentucky, and sister Debra Stanfill (husband Vernon) of Pine Knot.

Melissa had worked as a teacher’s aide at the Union Chapel Elementary School in Russell County.  She had also worked at the Movie Station in Pine Knot, Wolf Creek Dam and at a nursing home in Russell County.  She enjoyed fishing, looking for deer and being outdoors.  She liked to play the piano and making primitive crafts.

Funeral services will be Thursday, December 7, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Pastor Braxton King officiating.  She will be laid to rest at the Pleasant Run Cemetery.  Visitation will be Thursday from 12:00 noon until time for services.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Pine Knot Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses. All donations are greatly appreciated.
