MITCHELL GARLAND OWENS

July 12, 1942 — January 11, 2020

Mitchell Garland Owens, age 77, of Parkers Lake, KY passed away Saturday, January 11, 2020, at the Signature Health Care of McCreary.

He was born in Parkers Lake on July 12, 1942, to the late William Garland and Maudie (Logan) Owens.  Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers: Dewey Starlin Owens and Eric Eugene Owen, and two sisters: Joyce Morgan and Phyllis Ridner.

Surviving family include two daughters: Angela Wittenmyer (and Mark) of McComb, Ohio, and Brandy Moes (and Chris) of Fostoria, Ohio, and a son, Craig Owens of New Riegel, Ohio, eight grandchildren: Jaden and Blake Wittenmyer, Tony, Dylan and Charlie Moes and Caleb, Adrianna and Bryce Owens, and a granddaughter, Amelia Owens.  There is one surviving sister: Linda Head of Parkers Lake.  He also had many nieces and nephews who did a lot for him and he deeply cared for.

Mitchell had been a truck driver and enjoyed music.  He played guitar in several local bands.  He enjoyed woodworking and being outdoors. 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 14, 2020, in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Bro. Daniel Ridener officiating and Bro. Israel Clark singing.  He will be laid to rest at the Rock Branch Cemetery.  The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday from 12 noon until time for services.
