Pamela Jane Douglas

Pamela Jane Douglas, better known as Pam, age 78 of Whitley City, Kentucky passed from this life on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. 

She was born on October 11, 1947 in Somerset, Kentucky to the late John Lawrence Brown and Vinna Jane (Foster) Brown. 

In addition to her parents, Pam is preceded in death by her brothers, Bill Brown (and wife, Sandra) and Rev. Randall Brown; and sisters, Betty Ellis, Shanda Clark (and husband, Gene), Brenda Stanchfield (and husband, Wayne), Burma Stephens (and husband, Caleb), and Janet Mefford. 

Surviving family include her husband, Donald "Don" Douglas whom she married November 23, 1968; a son, Kevin Douglas; a daughter, Jennifer Mays (and husband, Joe); grandchildren, Ean, Knox, and London Mays; a brother, Tommy Brown (and wife, Sharon); a sister, Pat Roaden (and husband, Ralph); and a sister-in-law, Bonnie Brown.

Pam also leaves behind a great host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends she loved very dearly. 

Pam was a member of the Upper Hickory Grove Baptist Church where she and Don attended for many years. Pam retired from the McCreary County Board of Education after devoting over 31 years as a Biology and Chemistry teacher. During her time as an educator, she touched many lives and made many friendships that lasted a lifetime. She continued those friendships by never failing to mail out cards for all sorts of special occasions, as well as get well soon cards. In her down time, she loved to bird watch, talk on the telephone, and care for animals. In the summer, she took much pride in keeping her swimming pool in top notch. Pam was genuine in all she done and her kind soul will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. 

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2026 at 6:00 pm in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home. Burial to follow in the Pine Knot Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday after 4:00 pm until service time. 

Pine Knot Funeral Home is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
