Paula Vann

Paula Jane Vann, age 78, of Pine Knot, Kentucky, passed away at Baptist Health Corbin on Wednesday, December 27, 2023.

Paula was originally from Pennsylvania. She was born in Sayre on July 17, 1945 to the late Paul R. Glose and the late Ida Helena (Reynolds) Glose. Before coming to McCreary County, she spent her young life in Pennsylvania where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Zoology at Penn State University. Her mother worked for the McCreary County Record Newspaper, and Paula followed in her footsteps and became a journalist for the newspaper. Paula was very active in her community, She worked for the United States Census, the Civillian Conservation Corps, and she helped misguided children stay on the right path through the Youth Conservation Corps. She was known as a very smart and funny woman who loved her family and her dogs. During her free time she loved fishing, crocheting, and quilting.

Paula is survived by her husband, Rodger Vann whom she married on March 9, 1972; her sons, Paul Vann (Janice), of Winter Springs, Florida, Jeffrey Vann (Renee), of Pine Knot, Kentucky; grandchildren, Zachary Vann, Sophia Vann; special sister-in-law, Karen Hughes; and a special Aunt, Peggy Wilson.

Funeral services will be held at the Pine Knot Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at 2:00 pm. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will follow the funeral service in the Lower Cal Hill Cemetery.
