RADA CHRISTINE CHANEY

December 6, 1930 — May 13, 2008

Mrs. Rada Christine Chaney, age 77, of Pine Knot, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2008, at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset.

Funeral services will be Friday, May 16, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Rev. Harvey Logan and Rev. Jay Constant officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Pine Knot Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 6 a€" 9 p.m. Eastern Star services will be conducted Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m.

Christine was born December 6, 1930, at Holly Hill, Kentucky, to the late Johnny Loren and Mahala Ball Hamlin. She was a retired merchant having owned an operated Stephens Mini Mart on Cal Hill Road for several years. She was a foster parent and a member of the Freewill Baptist Church, and Order of the Eastern Star. She devoted her life to her family and had many true and wonderful friends. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, sewing, and preparing special meals for all her family on Sundays.

Preceding her in death are her parents Johnny and Mahala Hamlin, her husband and father of her children, Willard Stephens who passed away June 26, 1994. and a brother Eugene Hamlin.

Surviving family include her husband Barney Chaney, and three children: Shelia Troxell of Las Vegas, Sharon Mason of Pine Knot, and James (and Debbie) Stephens of Pine Knot. There are four grandchildren: Kim (and her husband Justin), Kristin, Jamie (and her husband Shawn) and Matthew. She also has two great grandchildren, Scarlett and Lilly Christine. There are three surviving brothers Arnold (and Doris) Hamlin of Williamsburg, Kentucky, Ronald (and Carol) Hamlin of Hamilton, Ohio, and Donald Hamlin of Williamsburg. Christine had one sister Reba Lay (and James Randall) of Lake City, Tennessee, and a sister-in-law Myrtle Hamlin of Williamsburg.

Pine Knot Funeral Home assisted the family with funeral arrangements.
