RANDY R. CHITWOOD

August 24, 1966 — June 26, 2007

Mr. Randall Ray "Randy" Chitwood, age 40, of Winfeld, Tennessee, passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2007, at the Scott County Hospital in Oneida, Tennessee.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 30, 2007, at 12:00 noon, in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Rev. Brent Stephens and Rev. Rick Watson officiating. Burial was in the Wright Cemetery at Parkers Lake, Kentucky with military honors provided by the United States Army and Kinne Slave Post 115 of the American Legion. Serving as pall bearers were Greg Agee, Obie Taylor, Jay Stephens, Darnell Martin, Philip Franz, Sherman Williams, Michael Cash, and John R. Justice. Honorary pall bearers were Brian and Jacob Watson.

Born on August 24, 1966, in Columbus, Ohio, he was the beloved son of Raymond and Brenda Stephens Chitwood. Preceding him in death is a daughter Randi Elaine Chitwood whose mother is Lisa Stephens and a wife Janie Waters Chitwood.

Surviving family include his wife Radena King Chitwood of Winfield, whom he married August 26, 2001, his parents Raymond and Brenda Chitwood of Pine Knot, two daughters Brooklyne Chitwood and Cameron Kidd of Winfield and two sons Shane Vanover of Pine Knot and Jonathan Vanover of Marshes Siding. There are two sisters and Rita (and Rick) Watson of Pine Knot, and Jana (and Bob) Broadfoot, of South Carolina. Randy was blessed with two beautiful grandchildren Riley King and Addison Vanover. He has four special nephews Brian and Jacob Watson and Jonah and Obadiah Cheek.

Randy had worked as a technical engineer for Highland Telephone before becoming disabled. He was a volunteer fire fighter for the South McCreary Fire Department. He enjoyed boating, restoring old vehicles and spending time with his "Brothers in Arms" including Phillip Franz and Jay Stephens.

He served his country as a staff sergeant in the Kentucky Army National Guard. He was a patriotic veteran of Desert Storm with the 2123rd Heavy Equipment Transportation Unit from Richmond, Kentucky. He also was a proud member of an elite platoon known as "the 3rd Herd". While serving, Randy was awarded numerous accommodations and medals that included the Army Service Ribbon, the National Defense Service Medal, the Expert Badge M-16 Rifle, the Expert Badge Hand Grenade, the Army Lapel Button, the Meritorial Citation Medal, the Armed Service Medal, the South East Asia Medal, the Bronze Service Star and the Kuwait Liberation Medal.

Pine Knot Funeral Home assisted the family with funeral arrangements.
