Rev. Billy Joe Duncan age 73 of Pine Knot, Kentucky, husband of Irene (Stevens) Duncan passed from this life on Friday, December 29, 2017 at the Big South Fork Medical Center in Oneida, Tennessee.

He was born December 25, 1944 in Norma, Tennessee to the late Harold and Hazel (Absent) Duncan. Billy was the Pastor of Dixie Freedom Baptist Church for 26 years. He loved serving the Lord by preaching and doing his work. Billy also enjoyed his garden and spending time with his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Glen and Curtis Duncan, and sisters, Cathy Sexton, Helen Lowe, Wanda Cordell, Judy Cordell, Wilda Moon, Phyllis Lyons, and Peggy Musgrove.

Surviving family include his wife, Irene Duncan of Pine Knot; son, Joe Duncan and wife, Laura, of Revelo; daughter, Lana Stanley and husband, Douglas, of Oneida, Tennessee; a brother, Bobby Duncan of Oneida; a sister, Lorene Day of Oneida; grandchildren, Crystle Duncan, Jessica Barnes, and Brittany Lowe; and great-grandchildren, Ava Barnes, Paisley Lowe, Emma Barnes, and Delanie Lowe.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at 2:00 pm at the Meadows Grove Baptist Church with Bro. Bill King, Bro. Roderick Foster, Bro. Scotty Corder, & Bro. Joe Duncan officiating. Burial to follow in the Stevens-Foster Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6:00 until 9:00 pm at the Pine Knot Funeral Home. Rev. Billy will lie in state at the Church on Tuesday after 12:00 noon until service time.
