Rev. Michael Brent Stephens, age 85, passed away Sunday, August 9, 2026, at his home in Whitley City, Kentucky.

He was born on January 19, 1941, to the late Rev Chester Lee and Zora Belle Davis Stephens. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Mary Ruth Webb Stephens and his siblings; Chester Stephens, Jr., Joe Stephens, Charles Stephens, Bill Stephens, Steve Stephens and Margaret Tucker Jones.

He is survived by his children; Elizabeth Ubelhor (John), Rebekah Terry (Mark), Susan Stephens, and Michael Stephens (Cindy), his grandchildren: Matthew Terry, Lauren Haney (Ryan), Jassylin Stephens, and Sophie Stephens and a great grandchild, Lottie Haney. Surviving siblings are Nancy Tucker (Parker), Brenda Chitwood, and Mary Lindsey.

Brent retired from the Bank of McCreary County (USB) as a loan officer on February 26, 1999. He pastored Flat Rock Baptist Church from June, 1979 thru April, 1989, and Walkers Chapel Baptist Church since April, 1989. He served his county in the United States Air Force. He enjoyed doing body work on vehicles, driving, hiking in the woods and fishing.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, August 14, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Pine Knot Funeral Home. A private burial service will be on Saturday at the Wright Cemetery.
