Wendell was born on November 30, 1938 at Worley Hilltop, Kentucky, the son of the late Herman "Red" and Pearl Daugherty Hill. He leaves behind his wife of 48 years, Vivian Levon Hill, whom he married August 4, 1965. They made their home on Cal Hill Road in Pine Knot and had two daughters Wendi Levon Shepherd (her husband Kyle) of Richmond, Kentucky, and Rebecca Marie Perry (her husband Johnny) of Pine Knot.

Wendell and Vivian were blessed with five granddaughters; Katie, Olivia, Abby, Tristian and Samantha, and two grandsons; Isaiah and Hunter, and a great-grandson and Brentlee Ryan, and obtained three special grandkids; Nathan, Zachary and Osha.

Wendell had been salesman having retired from H.T. Hackney and served God and the community as the pastor of Sulphur Springs United Baptist Church for 45 years. His steady and faithful service was evident with the love and unfailing covenant of Christ. Wendell's love of life and his family was so evident to all how knew him.

He will be greatly missed but not forgotten. This is not goodbye, but just a short separation. We will be together again, you are forever loved.

I have fought a good afight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
