REV. HAROLD V. JONES

August 29, 1939 — June 21, 2012

Rev. Harold V. Jones, age 72 of Pine Knot, passed from this life on Thursday June 21, 2012 at his home.

Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday June 24, at 2pm in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home, with Rev. Robert Blakenship and Rev. Kyle Keeton officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Knot Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 5-9 at the funeral home.

Harold was born in McCreary County on August 29, 1939 to the late Herbert and Alma Crisp Jones. He was a business owner having been involved in a Chrysler, Plymouth Dodge dealership, as well as owning and operating several NAPA auto parts stores located through out the area; Pine Knot, Whitley City, Jellico, TN, Monticello, KY Williamsburg, KY, London and Corbin, KY, Helenwood, TN and Winfield, TN.

In addition to his business interest, he was an educator having earned his Doctorate degree from the University of Cincinnati. He was a teacher, teaching locally at the Ross Grove School as well as schools in the Cincinnati, OH district. He served as a principle for schools in Bright, Indiana and Sunman-Dearborne County Schools in Indiana.

Harold was also a minister and was ordained in 1968. He had served as pastor of the Mt. View and Silerville Baptist Churches and more recently as the pastor Victory United Baptist Church.

Surviving family include his wife Virginia "Genny" Wilson Jones who he married in 1977.

3 sons: Tim V. Jones and his wife Glenna of Pine Knot, George Jones and his wife Lisa of Williamsburg, KY, and Jason Jones and his wife Becky of Strunk, KY.

There are 2 daughters, Linda Hill and her husband Johnny of Louisville, KY and Teresa Chambers and her husband Mike of Oneida, TN.

Harold has 3 brothers, Boyce Jones of Whitley City, KY, Herbert Jones Jr. of Sarasota, FL, and Jerry Jones of Colona, IL.

There is one sister Patricia Roy of Pine Knot, KY.

He also leaves 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

As a vital member of the community and a man of integrity and faith, his presence will be surely missed.
