ROGER KYLE BALL

November 13, 1948 — July 21, 2010

Mr. Roger Ball, age 61 of Pine Knot, passed away on Wednesday July 21, 2010 at his home.

Funeral services will be Saturday July 24, 2010 at 1:00pm at the Hayes Creek Church of God, with Rev. Harvey Logan, Rev. Tim Stephens, and Jimmy Stephens officiating. Burial will follow in the Hayes Creek Cemtery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6-9pm at Pine Knot Funeral Home and his body will lie in state at the Hayes Creek Church after 11am Saturday until time for services.

Roger was born in Pine Knot on November 13, 1948. His parent, James Dillard and Ruth Stephens Ball survive. Preceding him in death is his first wife and mother of his children Nona Ann Baird Ball, who died in 1998.

Survivors include his wife Linda Marlar Ball of Pine Knot. A son, Darren and his wife Debbie of Pine Knot, and his daughter Sherry King and her husband Luther of Strunk, Kentucky. There are 3 sisters, Wilma Neal (Jerry) of Whitley City, Diane Morrow of Pine Knot and Velvie Byrd (Joe) of Michigan. He has 6 grandchildren, Kyle and Kelsie Ball, Colby, Caitlyn, Andrew and Eric King. There is a step daughter, Amanda Chambers Phillips of Oneida, Tennessee.

Roger served his country as a young man in the US Army during Vietnam. He worked at the former Shamrock Coal Company as a heavy equipment operator. He loved the outdoors and his hobbies included hunting, fishing and camping. He also enjoyed cooking for family gatherings and Vacation Bible School at Hayes Creek Church of God where he was a member.

Roger will be sadly missed but fondly remembered.
