Mr. Stephan Ralph Duncan, age 66, of Shepherdsville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Tuesday, July 30th, 2024. Born on February 24th, 1958 in Scott County, Tennessee, he was the son of Opal Walker Duncan Anderson and the late Jim Duncan of Pine Knot, Kentucky, and the late Rodney Paul Anderson.
Steve, as he is known by his family and friends, used his childhood passion to forge a career in auto mechanics. He owned his own shop simply titled “Steve’s Auto” for many years, servicing the Greater Louisville area, which was a true testament to his passion of helping others. In most recent years, Steve worked as a mechanic for 44 Auto Mart in Shepherdsville, Kentucky. He was known for his warm heart, free spirit, and unwavering dedication to those he loved.
In addition to his fathers, Jim Duncan and Rodney Paul Anderson, Stephan is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Charles and Etta Walker of Winfield, TN; paternal grandparents, Oscar and Velva Duncan of Revelo, KY; his brother, Ricky Wayne Duncan, and his nephew, Charlie Edward Duncan of Winfield, TN.
Stephan is survived by his mother, Opal Anderson of Winfield, Tennessee; his ex-wife, Carolyn Beatty; his children, Christy Gula (Dennis) and Stephanie Duncan; his grandchildren, Rachaell Scott, Gavin Scott, Mackenzie Duncan, Zackary Duncan, Myleigh Duncan, and Erika Turner, all from Louisville, KY; his two brothers, Danny Duncan of Winfield, TN, and Rodney Duncan (Jennifer) of Louisville; and his three sisters, Beverly Duncan Ball Little ( David) of Bronston, KY, Eileen Mulvaney (Rusty) of Shepherdsville, KY and Jamie Kirchner of Corydon, IN. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him,
A celebration of Stephan’s life will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at 2:00 pm at the Winfield Municipal Center in Winfield, Tennessee with Bro. Charles Godby officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation after 12:00 noon until service time. A private interment will follow in the New Light Cemetery in Winfield.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in his memory.
