Thomas D. Morgan, 84 of Somerset, Kentucky, passed away on January 31st, 2026 at, The Hospice of Lake Cumberland, Jean Waddle Care Center.

He was born February 7, 1941 to the late George Lawrence and Phyllis Charlene Morgan, in Stearns, Kentucky.

He is survived by his children, Alan S. Morgan,(Sherri) of Clarksville, TN, Crystal A. Sweeney,(Mike) of Johnson City, TN, Thomas D. Morgan,(Karla) of Jonesboro, AR and Dana L. Watson,(Roger) of Somerset, KY, brothers, Eugene and James Morgan of Stearns, KY and a sister Virginia Jones of Covington, KY. Also surviving, 15 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

He shared his life with his long time companion,(sweetheart) Shirley Ramsey, of whom along with her own children, Shannon Neely,(Bruce), grandchildren, Devan and Bradley brought him much joy throughout his life.

Thomas enlisted in the United States Air Force serving his country until he was honorably discharged in 1966. Upon completing his military service, Thomas returned home and secured a position with Stearns Coal Company, as a Surveyor, where he continued to work until their closure.

Thomas continued his commitment to his country as a civilian, serving 25 years as a Realty Specialist and Negotiator in the Real Estate Division for the United States Army Corp of Engineers. He participated in the land acquisition of multiple Corps projects. For 25 years his expertise in survey, mapping and negotiations were critical in the execution of the Nashville Districts projects. His professionalism, dedication to duty, and high level of performance reflects great credit on Mr. Morgan, the Nashville District and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Thomas was a member of the Stearns First Baptist Church. He was a man of quiet strength, deep roots and unwavering loyalty to his family and friends. He understood the value of hard work and instilled this in his children. In his spare time, Thomas loved golfing and fishing with his brothers. He loved a good game of Rook with his buddies and most importantly, was an avid member of the, BIG BLUE NATION, he loved to watch Kentucky basketball, rarely missing cheering them on, from the comfort of his easy chair.

Thomas was a beacon of strength and kindness; whether through his service or his friendships, he touched countless lives and will be missed by many who loved him.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Stearns Museum in his honor.

Funeral services will be held 1pm Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at the Pine Knot Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Pine Knot Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 12pm Wednesday at the Funeral Home.
