William Lowell Gilreath

William Lowell Gilreath age 77 of Stearns, Kentucky passed from this life on Monday, October 27, 2025 at the Baptist Health of Corbin. 

He was born on February 4, 1948 in Pine Knot, Kentucky to the late Golden Gilmore Gilreath and Eva Mae (Bryant) Gilreath. In addition to his parents, William is preceded in death by his brothers, Lawrence Jean Gilreath and Gilmore Gilreath. 

Surviving family include his wife, Joan (Waters) Gilreath whom he married, November 24, 1967; their sons, Timothy Gilreath (and Heather) of London and David Gilreath (and Roxane) of Tiffin, Ohio; brothers, Lloyd Gilreath, Jimmy Gilreath (and Helen), and Charlie Gilreath (and Karen); and sisters, Linnie Miller (and Ralph), Linda Meadows, and Sandra Gilreath. 

Also surviving are his grandchildren, Larissa Gilreath, Andrew Hudson, Anthony & Maegan Hicks, Weston & Destiny Gilreath, Samantha & Isaiah Calloway, Sabrina & Nick Stidham, Austin Gilreath, Lexie Kaltenback, Gavin Gilreath, Dakota Decker, Cade & Sierra Decker, Kara & Josh Mullen, Justin & Amanda Wallen; a special grandson, Jason Raypole; and great-grandchildren, Ava Jean Marie, Eleanore Kaye-Grace Hicks, Xavier Wallen, Levi Wallen, Chloe Wallen, Malea Decker, Cylus Decker, Jackson Mullen, Mason Mullen, Montgomery Grae Calloway, and baby Vivian who is due March 2026.

William was a member of the Revelo Church of God as well as a Masonic member of the Orie S. Ware Lodge in Stearns. During his working life, he provided for his family as a Tool & Die maker. In his own time, William enjoyed being outdoors, going hunting, taking Joan fishing, and gardening. He took much pride in preparing and growing a garden each year. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. 

Funeral service will be held on Friday, October 31, 2025 at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Bro. Boyd Rowe and Bro. Junior Gilreath officiating. Burial to follow in the Pine Knot Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm at the funeral home. 

Serving as pallbearers are Weston Gilreath, Austin Gilreath, Gavin Gilreath, Anthony Hicks, Jamie Waters, Jared Waters, and Lucas Meadows.
