Homer Herbert Thomas, age 87 years, of Whitley City, passed away Friday, August 28, 2020 at his home.
He was born April 9, 1933 in Hot Springs, North Carolina the son of Luther Herbert Thomas and Cora Della (Stephens) Thomas. Homer was a truck driver, member of the South Pine Knot Church of God and attended the Whitley City Church of God, and had served his Country in the US Army. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, auctions, hiking, boating, hunting ginseng, but he dearly loved driving his truck which he returned to driving 4 times after retirement.
His parents; wife, Rev. Thelma (Watson) Thomas; son, Dale Wayne Thomas; daughter-in-law, Vicki Thomas, son-in-law, Rick Murray; brothers, Robert Thomas, Earl Thomas, and Ronald Eugene Thomas; and sisters, Pearl "Estel" Thomas, Lucy Perry, Virginia Hirschfield, and Joyce Rose precede him in death.
Survivors include his sons, Larry Dale Thomas of Livingston, Tennessee and Gary Wade Thomas of Stearns; daughters, Sharon Kay Coy and husband, Richard of Andersonville, Tennessee and Kathie Lynn Thomas of Whitley City; brother, Bobby Ray Thomas and wife, Karen of Pine Knot; sisters, Beatrice Harding and husband, Claude of Indiana, Della Kreitzman and husband, Gary of Georgia, and Barbara Watson and husband, Estel of Indiana; grandchildren, Katie Scarlett Marsh and husband, Sean, William Herbert Thomas and wife, Nanette, Heidi Marie Carrow and husband, Chris, and Sharon Renae Clark and husband, Mark; great-grandchildren, Michael Marsh, William Tyler Thomas and wife, Caroline, Preston Thomas, Alex Thomas, Kayla White, Kinsey White, Braelyn Carrow, Dustin Clark, Lucas Clark, and Sophia Clark; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at 1:00 pm in the chapel of the Pine Knot Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Kidd Cemetery on Rock Creek. The family will receive friends on Tuesday after 11:00 am until service time at the funeral home.
