Randy Foster

June 20, 1948 ~ March 13, 2020 (age 71)

Obituary

Randy Foster age 71 of the Mine 18 Community in Strunk, Kentucky passed from this life on Friday, March 13, 2020 at his home.

He was born June 20, 1948 in Barthell, Kentucky to the late Andy Foster and Ruby (Stevens) Foster. In addition to his parents, Randy is preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Angela Watters Foster.

Surviving family include his wife of 49 years, Linda (King) Foster, whom he married January 8, 1971; sons, Randall Foster and wife, Jennifer, and Rodrick Foster and wife, Staci; a daughter, Rhonda Kelly and husband Robbie; grandchildren, Randy Hunter, Ashlee Peyton, Callie Renee, and Jordan Brooke; and a special granddaughter, Reagan Kidd Buttram, all of the Mine 18 Community.

Also surviving are his brothers, Reed Foster of Florida, James Foster and wife, Elizabeth, of Stearns, Kentucky, Ray Foster, and Roy Foster and wife, Fran, both of Mine 18; and sisters, Flonnie Henry of Winfield, Tennessee, Bonnie Foster, and Brenda Brummett and husband, Jerry, both also of Mine 18.

First and foremost, Randy was a man of God. After being saved at a young age at the Revelo Church of God, he began devoting his life to the Lord and never stopped. He was currently a Deacon at the Day Ridge Pentecostal Church, where he became a member over 12 years ago. Randy took much pride in taking care of God’s house. You would find him constantly doing work around the church whether it might be touching up paint, fixing sheetrock, mowing the grass, any maintenance it may need.

In February of 1968, Randy volunteered and became a member of the United States Army, proudly serving his country in the 1st Platoon, I Troop, 3rd Squadron, 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment (the Legendary Blackhorse Regiment), during the Vietnam War in 1968-1969. Randy was a life member of the 11th ACVVC.  He was a proud Veteran and loved his country dearly. Randy was also a man of integrity. He always believed in helping others, giving his last penny to someone in need. His kindness was certainly one of a kind and will always be cherished.

Although Randy had many accomplishments in life, between working for the Pine Knot Job Corp and Forest Service, operating heavy equipment, logging, and working in the strip pits, he was most proud of being a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his family, taking his children and grandchildren to church, and going hunting and fishing. Randy will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at 1:00 pm in the Revelo Church of God with Bro. Rodrick Foster, Bro. Duane Allen, and Bro. Jim Loudermilk. Burial is to follow in the Stevens-Foster Cemetery with full military honors provided by American Legion Post 115. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm at the Pine Knot Funeral Home. Mr. Foster will lie in state at the Church on Tuesday morning after 11:00 am until service time.
